Photo A Day: E, F, and G

E is for… was specially requested by my best friend, Nikky!

E is for Evil!

Story behind this is that my cat Sweetie hates Nikky with a passion. How much does Sweetie hate her? She would act cute and adorable so Nikky would pick her up. Once she was up near her face, Sweetie would claw Nikky in the face, purposefully aiming for her eyeballs. Sweetie REALLY hates Nikky!!!

Sweetie is adorable… when sleeping.

F is for… FUZZY!

As in, “Oh darling, I think the girls are drunk. Their faces are looking a little fuzzy.”

G is for green

Don’t mind the torn off middle nail.

I even painted my nails for this one!

Enjoying the Weekend? I am!

I am enjoying the weekend. I made myself some refried black bean tortilla thingies that are gluten-free. They were REALLY good! I am also bought new rechargeable batteries for my camera so I can take pictures again. I got rid of some junk in the house too.

I also got the first three pictures of the month done!  I have been playing with the settings on my camera. I am getting it now! I practiced super-macro shots and messed with ISO. Here are my three photos.

July 1: A is for Alert!

Mailbag! Foods to Try, Sparky’s Nest, and Blogging Schedule

Each week I get questions about things I post. If someone else is asking, I bet someone else is wondering the same thing. Here are three questions from this week.

What are good foods you have tried while on vacation?

I’ll pick two of my favorite places (Especially since I know who asked)! Both are in Imperial Beach, CA.

The Tin Fish Restaurant is at the end of a long pier and is totally worth the visit! The fish tacos are the best. Man, I miss their tacos.

The IB Forum is the most southwest bar and grill in the US and isn’t too far from The Tin Fish. It has a cool atmosphere. They have an electronic game that you can play while you are waiting for your food. You play against people all over the country. It’s pretty cool. I can’t remember my favorite main dish (it’s been YEARS) but I remember their onion rings were awesome! Their Cherry Bombs are awesome too!

I can’t find a picture of either place (I know I have them) so here is a picture of a cactus flower instead. I took it one spring while I was in San Diego.

Where is the nest located?

Sparky’s nest is located right outside my kitchen window. I am on the second floor and take the pictures from my balcony.

Do you have a blogging schedule?

Well… sort of. Not really. Kind of. Like, I have a plan but it hardly ever plays out the way I plan it. I’ll make a longer post some time this coming month. I am not sure I am really the authority of blog planning but, I will tell you how I plan it out in a later post.

I don’t really do anything special. I just want to write and share stuff and try to stay positive and be happy and all that fun stuff.

Here is an adorable kitten… I really need to clean out my photo folders.

Two Appointments in One Day

I had two appointments today. One for my regular doctor and one with the therapist. The one for the regular doctor was for all my pain and symptoms I am having. They are running a bunch of tests to see if I need a referral to a specialist and more testing. I had blood drawn and they are looking for markers of an autoimmune disorder. He highly suspects one because my blood work from awhile back was “through the roof” one week and normal the next.

Therapy was good. I talked about my stressful week and my ex calling and making me feel like crap. But, then we went over the things I am good at… beading, making beads, crochet items (hats, scarves, bags, etc), and some of the other crafty things I do, plus the children’s books idea and writing a book for teens or adults. It actually made me feel better. I left on a super positive note which isn’t the norm for me.

Now that I am home, I HURT SO BAD! My body is aching. I love sitting in my chair and having the heated back part run. We’re working on getting the house organized slowly and getting the long room ready for the new cats. Right now they are in Leeli’s room. We are trying to slowly introduce them to our cats, Gizzy and Sweets. Gizzy is having no part of it for now. He’s curious but, not that curious. He wants the intruders to stay in Leeli’s room. Sweets isn’t sure what to think. She keeps going up to the door and sniffing.

The three cats in Leeli’s room are doing okay. Boots is so stressed out his hair is falling out. He hid in the closet most of today. We had to unplug the Xbox b/c it has a sensor to open the tray, instead of a button. Boots walked by it and the tray opened. He freaked out and attacked it, then went back to hide in the closet again.Ty Ty is curious as heck and checking everything out. Fluffy monster is so relaxed you would think he’s lived here since birth. He has a habit of rolling all over people’s feet and loving them to death and smothering us in his poof coat of fur. I will definitely have to vacuüm more with him. His fur is all over everything!

And now, I am going to go work on a scarf/hat/gloves. I will call it a sharglo! Or some other ridiculous name.

Update: I got a call from Lacy. Some of the blood tests came back. They all look good. The only two we are waiting for are the ones for Celiac disease and Lupus. It makes me feel better knowing that the other tests look good but, now I am nervous about the other two. The ten-day wait is going to kill me!

This Week I Challenge Myself

I am three cats short of crazy cat lady. Later today, I will reach my goal! My friend, Desiree, is moving in with her mom because her mom has cancer and needs some extra help. The only thing is, she can’t take her cats unless they put them in the old chicken coop outside. I have a soft spot in my heart for these cats since we raised them from two weeks old. The momma cat died and we became momma.

I just can’t see putting them out in the cold coop. I know, they will have heat, shelter, food, and water… But, I just can’t see it happening. So I am taking them in. which means I will have to make double batches of cat food! But at lest they will be inside. Right? Right!

Yesterday was the tobacco seminar. We started exploring our reactions just before our triggers for smoking. This week, we’ll try the AAA method of not smoking. We don’t have to skip every single cigarette. We’re just challenging each other. The three A’s are: Avoid, Alter, Alternate.

Avoid is obvious. We try to avoid the trigger. While that doesn’t work for every trigger, there some we can avoid. My big one is smoking with friends. So I’ll try avoiding one trigger “friends are smoking so must I” times. I’ll stay instead and crochet a few rows on the scarf I am making. At this point, I should be able to crochet a blanket to cover a house! It worked yesterday for avoiding a stress trigger so, I am happy with that Smile

Alter is where you alter your activity so it doesn’t trigger your habit. If you smoke while you are drinking coffee, switch to juice. Forget that! I’ll just add flavored creamer to my coffee. I am still thinking of times I can alter or things I can alter. I did think of one but I haven’t done it yet. I always smoke on my balcony. So, this week, I am going out on the balcony with a cup of coffee, not smoking, and just enjoying the fresh air.

Alternative is where you substitute your smoking with a different activity. I am already getting pretty good at that one. I skipped three cigarettes yesterday by crocheting instead.

This is a good challenge for me because it makes me feel like I have something to work for, something to look forward to.

I am off for now to get my other blogs done for today and to start organizing for our new kitties.

See, I am crazy! I am now Crazy Cat Lady!
